I decided to include a selection of instrumental artworks in honour of a musician and musical instrument maker called Mark Sandman who passed away in 1999.
Mark was in a three-piece band that played unconventional instruments and beats. His band mate’s radical saxophone, along with his two string bass produced an amazing, unique sound.
Mark played his two string bass with a slide at times, to complement the bands dynamic, musical wizardry.
The music the band produced was completely unique, and came at a time when stereotypical instruments and contemporary pop jingles were considered the only way to get ahead in the music industry.
Mark Sandman’s innovation, cutting edge idealism and strength of conviction inspired me to believe that unique creations and beliefs for a better waste free world deserve the right to be heard.
