The inspiration for this Instrumental Artwork came while looking at the view from the top of Maungakiekie in One Tree Hill Domain. I carved the outline of Maungakiekie on one side and of the headstock and the outline of Rangitoto Island in the other.
I wanted to create a vintage 1860s military look to the instrument as it feels to me, like you go back in history every time you walk to the top of the volcanic peak. The guitar came out looking like a spear or single shot rifle, due to the short and deep nature of the box and the slim length line of the neck.
