As the Journey of a Thousand Miles begins with one step, so too does this Instrumental Artwork as it was the first of fifty to be made in the kaprimein series.
I wanted to make the first Instrumental Artwork as strong as possible by drawing on a few icons from Aotearoa.
I liked the strength of the 1959 One Shilling coin I placed in the guitar neck. It had a crouching Maori Warrior on one side that provided further power to the Native Matai hardwood I used to carve the neck.
The Natural Paua Shell fret markers, Control Knobs and surrounds add to the native feel of the instrument, and a Tonezone Humbucker pickup provides the grunt.
The Canoe style headstock design and Partagas cigarbox complement the durability and strength of this special first piece ever made Instrumental Artwork.
