Las Vegas is the show time city that loves to take your money and show you a good time.
Las Vegas has a reputation for going over the top when it comes time to have some fun, and creates an atmosphere that makes you think everything is all right with the world while you walk down the main drag and discover all it has to offer.
It reminds me of an American Indian saying I use to keep a positive mindset; “Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see the shadows”.
If you keep your face looking at the lights of Vegas you will not see the Shadows that lurk behind the thin facade.
I had a seven string electric guitar pick up that I was wondering what to do with, when I discovered a Vegas Cigarbox on the ebay junkyard and I thought the two would complement the extravagant feel I was looking for in my next Cigarbox guitar creation.
When I think of my time Las Vegas two things come into my head, Card games and Elvis Presley.
I found a coin from the Grand Casino minted in 1999 to commemorate Elvis as the Artist of the Century, and some card fret markers that suited the gambling look I was trying to obtain.
After I put together the guitar, I tested it to see if it measured up to the extravagance of Las Vegas. I was not disappointed, the pick up was a monster, and the overall sound was huge.
This Guitar would not look out of place in the “Sin City”.
Las Vegas has the look of a mirage in the desert, and I get the feeling that everything is available, but not real, a creation to live out the wild side of ones character.
One thing that struck me about this Instrumental Artwork was the cigar box. Embossed in gold foil on the side of the cigar box to describe the range of cigars being sold was the word Apocalypse.
A strange but poignant description used by the manufactures of Vegas Cigars to describe their wares.
